Contentment Prayer
Lord, help me to be grateful for what i have, to remember that i don't need most of what i want, and that joy is found in simplicity and generosity.

affluenza_ n. 1. the bloated, sluggish, unfulfilled feeling that results in efforts to keep up with the joneses. 2. an epidemic of stress, overwork, waste, and indebtedness caused by dog pursuit of the American Dream. 3. an unsustainable addiction to economic growth.

What does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul. _Mark 8:36

"Lord, help me to be the person you want me to be today. take away the desires that shouldn't be there, and help me be single-minded in my focus and my pursuit of you."

replace greed, envy, and materialism with God's light shining in us in a way to give light to others

what is your life purpose? pursuing a mission bigger that is bigger than our personal satisfaction? does our time and money reflect this mission? is our mission faith based?

Six Financial Planning Principles
1. pay your tithe and offering first.
2. create a budget and track your expenses.
3. simplify your lifestyle (live below your means)
4. establish an emergency fund.
5. pay off your credit cards, use cash/debit cards for purchases and use credit wisely.
6. practice long term savings and investing habits.

this short read is awesome. lots of things to think about. some basic things and some new things. still have another half to go so these notes will be continued......
